About Kedarnath

The Kedarnath temple is one of the most important shrines of Lord Shiva in the world. It is of prime importance among the Jyotirlingas, and also a part of the ‘Chota char dham’ temples of Uttarakhand. Importance Of Kedarnath Temple

According to legend, even the Nara-Narayana manifestations of Lord Vishnu had descended on Kedarnath and resurrected a Shivling to worship the Lord. Lord Shiva was greatly pleased by the devotion of his fellow Gods and offered a boon to them. Nara-Narayana requested Lord Shiva to stay in the Lingam they had created. Lord Shiva agreed and also declared that it would be known as ‘Kedar’.

This is also the special place where the Pandavas also came to repent for the sins of killing their cousins – the Kauravas. It is a place of the Lord, where one can absolve their sins, gain great spiritual and material happiness, and feel the power of his divine blessings.
